I like the concept of book about how Wade has this virtual reality console named, OASIS. The OASIS is sort of a place you can go to and it will always be ok in the OASIS, even though in the real world there is a big energy crisis. I like how Wade can go to a virtual school in OASIS, he doesn't have to worry about being bullied or getting his stuff stolen at a virtual school. Wade has a really cool hideout in a car junkyard. His hideout is in an old van that still had the key in it, in this van Wade keeps his school-issued OASIS console. In this van Wade has soundproofed the walls with egg cartons and made a lot of cool improvements to his hideout. I really like how realistic it is that Wade live's in the stacks (which is a stack of trailer homes) which shows how poor Wade and his family is. Early in the book Wade has a laptop, but when his aunt finds it she takes it from Wade to pawn it and help pay the rent. I'm confused about how Wade figures out the first part of the riddle so quickly into the book. A very detailed aspect of the book that I enjoy is how much time Wade spends watching cartoons and movie from the 80's and also playing old games from the 80's and all the reading he does to learn about the 80's and the creator of OASIS who grew up in the 80's and loved the 80's, even when it is 2044 for Wade.

My spring break started early when I left Iowa on Tuesday, March 7th. First, I flew to Chicago where I had to rush across O'Hare to catch my next flight that went Orlando, Florida. I landed in Orlando at 10pm (est). From the airport I took the Disney Magical Express bus to my hotel, Port Orleans: Riverside. I woke up at 7am the next day to get dressed and ready for my first day at Walt Disney World. That day, my two younger siblings, my parents and I went to the Magic Kingdom. We rode Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain and, Space Mountain and many more rides in the morning. For lunch we went to the Polynesian Resort, and ate at the Captain Cook's restaurant where I got my favorite meal, Thai Coconut meatballs. In the afternoon, we returned to the Magic Kingdom and we rode some calmer rides like, its a small world and The Little Mermaid ride.
The next day we went to Animal Kingdom. The highlights of that day include watching, the Lion King show and Finding Nemo: The Musical, my brother and I also enjoyed getting to ride Expedition Everest, and seeing the new Rivers of Light show. After that day we went to Epcot. There we rode many rides such as Mission: Space and Soarin', we also watched many shows such as the American Adventure and Impressions de France. The next day was Hollywood Studios, there we rode Tower of Terror, Rock n' Roller coaster and many others. At Hollywood studios we met with my cousins that live in Florida. We watched the Frozen: Sing along show with my cousins and we watched the Indiana Jones: Stunt Spectacular with them too. After going to all four theme parks we decided to go to our favorite ones again, the first one being the Magic Kingdom. At the Magic Kingdom we met with some friends from church and gave them a tour of the Magic Kingdom, as this was their first time there. The next day we went to Disney Springs and we listened to my sisters play in their high school band at an auditorium, after they had played we traveled to Epcot to finish our trip to Disney out. That next morning our plane from Orlando to Chicago was delayed three and a half hours. We were still able to get to Chicago at 7 in the afternoon and home at 10pm. We had just gone from 70 degree weather in Florida to 10 degree weather in Iowa, we were rushing to our van as the snow blowed towards us. -Contrasts and Contradictions
-Pg. 82 -Elie is in the infirmary and the camp is being evacuated because the Russians are getting too close to the camp, so Elie decides to be evacuated with the camp rather than staying in the camp infirmary. -Elie would act this way because he heard other prisoners say that the Nazis would blow up the camp so the sick Jews would not be liberated by the Russians. -Words of the Wiser -Pg. 111 -Elie's dad is severely sick and the doctor tells Elie that he shouldn't give his dad his ration but get his father's ration so he could have twice as much food because it was too late to save his father -The life lesson is that Elie should not give his father who is going to die anyway his rations but Elie should get his dad's rations so Elie doesn't die. It affects Elie because with twice as much food than usual he will have a better chance of surviving the camp. -Aha moment -Pg. 106 -Elie and his dad got separated and while Elie was looking for him, Elie thought to himself," If only I didn't find him! If only I were relieved of this responsibility." Immediately Elie is ashamed but he knows that if his father dies he would have a greater chance of survival. -This changes things by Elie finds out that he really doesn't want his father to be burden to him anymore and that his chance of survival would greatly increase if his father died. If I were president my top three priorities would to make college education more affordable, lower the amount of Americans in poverty, and
Over winter break I went down to St. Augustine, FL and Davenport, FL. I left Iowa on Christmas day to begin what would be a three day car drive down to Florida. I had a lot of fun driving down even though the traffic and fog was horrendous. When I finally got to St. Augustine I was reunited with my Dad's side of the family. A few of the highlights from my Dad's side is having numerous games of football and making a trophy for the "Hartwig Bowl" which no one won so we gave it to my Grandma, and having numerous madden games with my cousins early in the morning, I often lost those. I also enjoyed going on "The Red Train" which is a tram that takes you for a tour of St. Augustine. After my Dad's side came my Mom's Side of the family. My Aunt has 2 sons who are 9 and 5 years old. I enjoyed having fun Nerf battles with them and putting together a Lego Minecraft set. We also all watched the fireworks on New Years Day and built a mattress fort.
After that, My family and I went to Walt Disney World for 2 days and 1 night. We stayed in a cabin at Fort Wilderness. The First day we went to all the hotels and shopped for candy and clothes. Then, on my sister's 18th birthday we went into EPCOT in the morning. We got to ride the new Soarin' Around the World, and the new Frozen ride. We also ate at my favorite restaurant, The Biergarten. Next, we went back to our cabin and we watched to ending of the Iowa game. When we were all finished taking naps we went to the Magic Kingdom, where my whole family rode the three mountains (Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and Splash Mountain) at the Magic Kingdom. Then we left back up for home where School would soon be starting. In the article, The 8 life skills all 18-year-olds should have: A checklist for parents, they tell readers what 8 life skills an 18 year olds should have, the life skills they talk about are
-18 year-olds should be able to talk to strangers. This life skill is a very important one that I need to improve on. 18 yearolds should be able to talk to strangers because if they can't then they will have a very hard time going to the groceery store or ordering food from a resturant. I need to work on this skill because as I get older I will have to talk to more and more strangers and if I don't learn to talk to strangers now then I will have a harder time learning it later in life. -An 18 year old must be able to learn how to get around. This is another very important life skill because, if you don't know how to get around town or around a college campus you could be late to class, and then you could miss important in class. I already know how to get around Iowa City fairly well, but if I go to a college in another city I would have to quickly learn where everything is. -An 18 year old must be able to manage his assignments, workload, and deadlines. This is obviously an important skill, as 18 year old go to college they will have a lot of homework and essays to write, so they will have to know how to manage work and deadlines instead procrastinating a lot. I need to work on not procrastinating and getting my homework done -An 18 year old must be able to contribute to the running of a household. This life skill is not as important as the first 3, but this will become important later on in life. Contributing to a household is a good trait to have as you start a family and is a lot easier to continue having the earlier you get it. I haven't started on this trait yet but I'm sure to begin working on it in the future. -An 18 year old must be able to handle interpersonal problems. If I could inside a video game I would pick Madden 16. Madden 16 is a american football based game, you can play a regular game against two NFL teams, you could create a player and only play as that person, or you can collect digital football cards and play with them against other players online. I would choose to create my player, because whenever I play Madden I always play as my character, Noah Hartson. One reson, I would pick Madden to play in is because then I would get to complete one of my life list gaols, meet an NFL player. Even though, players in Madden are not the real people I would still be able to play with them and watch them play.
I also might pick being able to live inside Forza: Horizon. Forza: Horizon is a really cool game where you get drive really cool and expensive cars around a desert and small towns in Colorado. You can even paint and upgrade your cars. In Forza: Horizon you get to race other people, if you win the race you could get some money. I am thankful for my family, because I can joke around with them. Next, I'm thankful for my friends because they can help me when I don't know what we're doing. Then, I am thankful for my freedom in America. I'm thankful for being able to go to school and do school sports. I am also thankful for having a house to live in, where I can sleep and watch TV. I am thankful for not having any diseases like people in other countries. I'm thankful for having a doctor that I can go to any time and having a nice hospital. I'm thankful that I can live in a city and I don't have to live on a farm.
